Lead Toddler Teacher
Full-timeLead our Toddler Community classroom (ages 16–36 months) on Capitol Hill — small group, 1:4 ratio, alongside an experienced assistant.
Starling is family-run by design. Our team is small, our pay is fair for D.C., and the work — by every measure — meaningful.
Low ratios, deep relationships. Toddler runs at 1:4, Primary at 1:8 — well below the licensed maximum.
We hire AMI-trained guides and follow the AMI standard. The work is anchored to the original method, not to a curriculum vendor.
Walkable neighborhood, family-run, and a community of parents who know our team by name.
Children at the most formative ages, in environments built carefully and with intention.
We hire AMI-trained guides whenever possible. We also welcome applications from candidates with strong child-development backgrounds (early childhood education degrees, AMS-trained guides) — what matters is alignment with how Montessori children actually learn.
More than credentials, we look for people who bring warmth, calm, attention to detail, and curiosity. Our team invests in long-term work — we want people who plan to stay.
If you've worked in a Montessori classroom and know what a three-hour work cycle feels like, we'd especially love to hear from you.
We hire seasonally — usually in spring for the following school year. If you don't see a role that fits but Starling resonates, send us your resume anyway.
