Facts & Questions

Do you provide snacks & meals?

Starling Montessori School offers the option for children to receive a school provided morning Snack from the school.

Families can opt-in for the child to receive this service for $50 a month.

Our Snack Menu is standardized by each week and focuses on healthy and nutritious fruit, vegetables, and proteins. Water is offered at every meal.

Lunch and Afternoon snacks are provided by the family.

We provide all "food" needed for Food preparation activities. Food preparation activities are not a replacement for the child's snack.

How do you communicate with parents?

We use the application: Brightwheel to communicate with families as well as manage our enrollment and administrative processes. In emergency situations, we call parents directly.

I have a Masters in Education from Loyola University Maryland with a specialization in Montessori Education. I also hold a Masters in International Education from University of Alcala in Madrid, Spain. I have been teaching and working with children in Montessori Environments since 2016. I have been in education, teaching since 2012.

Our whole program is OSSE Licensed, meaning we have undergone the Washington D.C. process of adhering to DC's childcare development facility requirements and regulations at every level.

How far in advance should I submit an application?

We encourage families to apply as early as possible to ensure they are able to get a spot for their child when they are eligible.

For families interested in a spot for 2025-2026 we recommend submitting an application by January 2025, when we begin to plan our enrollment for the upcoming program year. Our re-enrollment and commitment for the next program cycle is April 1st 2025.

Is there a sibling discount?

Families with multiple children such as twins or siblings, should reach out to learn more about placement and sibling discounts.

What happens once my child turns 3?

Our program space is licensed for children through the age of 5 years and it is our goal to offer a complete Primary program starting 2025 to support our children as they grow. As your child reaches the age of 3, they may demonstrate readiness for more advanced materials and Montessori activities. As a Montessori Primary trained educator, we have the knowledge, experience and didactic materials needed to meet those developing needs.

For families interested in maintaining care in a Montessori educational environment, for the primary years (ages 3-5) we can discuss program rates and Primary program details when the time comes.
